By not responding to the APH Federal Quota Census by the due
date, you are directly responsible for the ineligibility of your students
for APH Materials!
For those of you who are new to this process, the Federal Quota census is
a system of counting all visually impaired students across the country. The
numbers for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are collected by the AIM Library and
then reported to the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) in Louisville
Kentucky. Since 1879, through the Act to Promote the Education of the Blind,
APH receives an annual appropriation from Congress to provide textbooks and
educational aids to school age students. These funds are distributed on a
per capita basis according to the number of students reported by each state
for each year. Please send one form for each student you are servicing, even
if he/she does NOT utilize the AIM Library. You must use the REPORTING
CODES provided. Only these codes will be accepted. I know
your time is precious, but all information must be updated yearly. Use your
best judgment if there is not an exact match for your students.
Our APH quota allocation depends entirely on your response to this request.
Please call or e-mail if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for
your time & cooperation!
