American Printing House Federal Quota
The federal quota system is a process of reporting all legally blind students to the American Printing House for the Blind in Louisville Kentucky. Since 1879, through the Act to Promote the Education of the Blind, APH receives an annual appropriation from Congress to provide textbooks and educational aids to school age students. These funds are distributed on a per capita basis according to the number of students reported by each state on their yearly census.
Our APH quota allocation depends entirely on the student registrations submitted by teachers of the visually impaired.
For the purpose of state numbers, we request that all students, whether legally blind or visually impaired, be registered with the Library, even if they are not utilizing the AIM Library!
